This website is obviously about animal abuse. Animal abuse is a huge problem in the world. Even though there are laws against it people still don't stop doing it. We need to band together to stop animal abuse. We need to do everything we can to save them. THEY can't SPEAK OUT but WE can!!! If you see anything that seems like animal abuse please report it. Animal rights need to be protected. There are some parts of the world that don't have animal rights. Places like Japan and China. China has horrible cases of animal abuse in relation to the animal olympics. In the animal olympics over 300 animals are abused with events such as horse fighting, kangaroo boxing and many more events. Animals in China, including dogs and cats, are SKINNED ALIVE!!! THIS NEEDS TO STOP!!! They feel pain just the same as we do. There is also a show that is broadcasted in japan where they think it is funny to put on heels and squish animals heads. Most of these animals are baby animals. One woman squished a baby chick. Another one stuck her heel in the dogs mouth and pushed till it died. Again THIS HAS TO STOP!!!! THIS IS NOT FUNNY!!!! Even though China and Japan seem to have many severe cases of animal cruelty there are still severe cases everywhere. Other forms of abuse that will always cause severe abuse are things like bull fighting and dog fighting. We need to do whatever we can to save them. We need to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. We need to be their voice.

Seal Clubbing

Seal clubbing is a horrible act that kills thousands of seals every year. Some do it for their pelts and some do it as a sport. The people that do it for their pelts usually skin them alive. Can you imagine not being able to do anything while people cut you and pull off your skin? There are even places that have seal clubbing festivals. And the government in Norway is considering making seal clubbing an event for tourists. How can epople support that? It's the same thing as a person bashing in the head of someones baby. The only difference is that they go to jail for it.

A recap of the slaughter of 2006 When sealers in the southern Gulf started killing, they found that only 20% of the seals had completely moulted. Since raggedy jackets (see photo above) don't bring as high a price, some waited it out. In the end, they killed more than their quota of 18,000 seals. In the northern Gulf, in just a couple days, sealers killed over 88,000 seal pups. All told, over 108,000 innocent pups were killed in the Gulf. This is 16,000 over the quota. There are no penalties for exceeding the quota. What's more, this is the only the official count; this doesn't include pups they wound, who escape and die later.
In addition to the slaughter by Maritime sealers, seal pups have been washing on shores, dead, presumably from drowning. Pups only learn to swim weeks after they are born, so they depend on good ice conditions; but this year, the ice conditions were the worst in recorded history.

Dog Fighting

Dog fighting is a sadistic "contest" in which two dogs—specifically bred, conditioned, and trained to fight—are placed in a pit (generally a small arena enclosed by plywood walls) to fight each other, for the spectators' gambling and entertainment. Fights average nearly an hour in length and often last more than two hours. Dogfights end when one of the dogs is no longer willing or able to continue. In addition to these dogfights, there are reports of an increase in disorganized, more spontaneous street fights in urban areas.

The injuries inflicted and sustained by dogs participating in dogfights are frequently severe, even fatal. The American pit bull terriers used in the majority of these fights have been specifically bred and trained for fighting and are unrelenting in their attempts to overcome their opponents. With their extremely powerful jaws, they are able to inflict severe bruising, deep puncture wounds, and broken bones.
Dogs used in these events often die of blood loss, shock, dehydration, exhaustion, or infection hours or even days after the fight. Other animals are often sacrificed as well. Some owners train their dogs for fights using smaller animals such as cats, rabbits, or small dogs. These "bait" animals are often stolen pets or animals obtained through "free to good home" advertisements.
Dogs used for fighting have been bred for many generations to be dangerously aggressive toward other animals. The presence of these dogs in a community increases the risk of attacks not only on other animals but also on people. Children are especially at risk, because their small size may cause a fighting dog to perceive a child as another animal.

Bull Fighting

These are video's of how horrible bull fighting is. But be warned that they are very hard to watch and they are bloody.

http://www.peta.org/mc/factsheet_display.asp?ID=64

Each year, approximately 10,000 bulls die in bullfights, an inaccurate term for events in which there is very little competition between a nimble, sword-wielding matador (Spanish for “killer”) and a confused, maimed, psychologically tormented, and physically debilitated animal.

Preparations for the Bullfight

The bulls are intentionally debilitated with heavy sandbags dropped on their backs. A study conducted by scientists at Spain’s Salamanca University found that 20 percent of the bulls used for fighting are drugged before they step into the ring; in the sampling of 200 bulls, one in five had been given anti-inflammatory drugs, which mask injuries that could sap the animal’s strength. One common—albeit illegal—practice is to “shave” the bulls’ horns by sawing off a few inches, which impairs their coordination. According to one matador, some of the top performers may also “ask breeders to deliberately select placid bulls …. It’s the only way to sustain your energy for the duration of the season.”

Ritualistic Slaughter

In a typical event, the bull enters the arena and is approached by picadores, men on blindfolded horses. The picadores drive lances into the bull’s back and neck muscles, impairing the bull’s ability to lift his head. They twist and gouge the lances to ensure a significant amount of blood loss. Then come the banderilleros on foot, who proceed to distract and dart around the bull while plunging banderillas—“brightly colored sticks with harpoon points” into his back. When the bull has weakened from blood loss, these banderilleros run the bull in more circles until he is dizzy and stops chasing. Finally, the matador appears and, after provoking a few exhausted charges from the dying animal, tries to kill the bull with his sword. If he misses, succeeding only in further mutilation, an executioner is called in to stab the exhausted animal to death.
“I can see how people see this as a barbaric thing,” said one French celebrity matador, Chamaco, whose antics were described by one spectator as follows: “He yells at the animal, gesturing wildly and triumphantly, teasing it, taunting it, begging it to dance with him.”
If the crowd is happy with the matador, the bull’s ears and tail are cut off and presented as a gift. A few minutes later, another bull enters the arena and the sadistic cycle starts again.

Other Victims

The bulls aren’t the only animals who suffer in the arena. The horses used in bullfights are blindfolded so that they don’t become frightened by the charging bull, and some are gored. At the Barcelona Olympics, The Philadelphia Daily News reported that on one night, “the bull charged the horse, knocked off the rider, knocked over the horse and got his horn tangled up in all the padding. The frightened horse, still blindfolded, kicked furiously as it lay on its side. The bull pushed and pulled, shoved and yanked, unable to free itself from the horse’s padding.”
American author Ernest Hemingway, famous for romanticizing bullfights, once described the scenes of horses being gored: “I have seen these, call them disemboweling, that is the worst word when, due to their timing, they were very funny. This is the sort of thing you should not admit, but it is because such things have not been admitted that the bullfight has never been explained.”

Opposition to Bullfighting

Pope St. Pius V decreed that bullfights are “altogether foreign to piety and charity.” He wished that “these cruel and disgraceful exhibitions of devils and not of men be abolished,” and he forbade attendance at them under penalty of excommunication.
Barcelona recently declared itself “an anti-bullfighting city,” and 38 Catalan municipalities followed its lead; the last bullring in Barcelona closed in 2006 because of poor attendance. According to a 2006 Gallup survey, 72 percent of Spaniards show no interest in bullfights, up from 31 percent in the ’90s. Interest in bullfighting has also declined in Mexico and Portugal, and in China, Beijing officials decided not to build a bullring in a popular tourist destination for, according to one report, “fears of the country’s image.” Unfortunately, there are still more than 1,200 government-funded bull ranches and dozens of state-sponsored bullfighting schools in Spain. In France, bullfights are held in the cities of Nimes, Arles, Dax, Toulouse, and Byonne.

What You Can Do

If you are planning to visit a country that permits bullfighting, please tell your travel agent that you are opposed to cruelty to animals in any form. Before vacationing abroad, you can write to the country’s ambassador and ask whether rituals involving animal slaughter are part of its tourist attractions. Make it clear that you want no part in such activities, and never be afraid to talk about the cruelty of bullfighting.
Please write to the Spanish, Mexican, and French embassies and explain that as long as this cruel blood sport continues, you will never visit their countries.

Embassy of Spain
2375 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W.
Washington, DC 20037

Embassy of Mexico
1911 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, DC 20006

Embassy of France
4101 Reservoir Road N.W.
Washington, DC 20007

Horse Fighting

People in China have a tradition that gouse back a few hundred years. That tradition is Horse fighting. They pick strong and healthy horses and force them to fight each other. They whip the horses and to other cruel things to make the horses fight. It needs to be stopped!!

China's Animal Olympics

Un-bear-able: China's cruel animal Olympics reach new heights October 2006
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-407693/Un-bear-able-Chinas-cruel-animal-Olympics-reach-new-heights.html
Cruel olympics: Animal rights campaigners are outraged at the latest pictures to emerge from China A black bear perches precariously on a scooter and is forced to drive a circus performer across a tightrope. This shocking image is just the latest picture to emerge from the barbaric Animal Olympic Games in China, a country with a shameful animal rights record.

The event has provoked outrage and serious concerns among animal rights groups around the world including The Captive Animals' Protection Society. Craig Redmond, UK-based campaigns manager, said: "The things these animals are being made to do are not natural acts, and there will no doubt be cruelty involved in making them perform these tricks." Shirley Galligan from the Born Free foundation added: "This is degrading for the animals, insulting to our intelligence and a disaster for any possible chance of increasing respect for the wild animals we share the world with. The Shanghai Animal Olympics is about domination and manipulation." Previous pictures from the 'games' have included kangaroos being forced to take part in boxing matches with their supposed keepers and a monkey cycling while tied by the collar to the children's bike. Other events have included a sea lion high jump and a tug of war between an elephant and members of the audience, with more than 300 animals taking part. The forth of the biannual events at the Shanghai Wildlife Park has attracted thousands of visitors, including rapturous school children. But the 'cruelty Olympics' are being held just before the human Olympics take place in Beijing. The Captive Animals' Protection Society is writing to the Chinese Ambassador in London to complain about the event. "The abuse of the animals is clear. The bears, for example, will be very distressed at being forced to wear muzzles, chained and made to fight," said Redmond. The protests from animal rights groups has been felt by the Chinese Government, which is keen to improve its reputation among the international community in terms of both animal and human rights. This year's Olympics could therefore be the last. Sickening 'Animal Olympics' forces kangaroos to box humans September 2006
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-407435/Sickening-Animal-Olympics-forces-kangaroos-box-humans.html

An Australian kangaroo receives a fierce blow to the head by a man dressed in a clown suit (pictured below) in a shameful contest that will further fuel fears over China's barbaric attitude to animals.
The bizarre marsupial-versus-human bout happened during the so-called Animal Olympics in Shanghai.
Animal rights campaigners say the Chinese have an appalling poor record for animal rights protection and have no laws to protect them.

In the fight, the Australian kangaroo appears to reel backwards after receiving a right hook from its garishly attired opponent.

But the 'roo, which was wearing boxing gloves on its front paws, fought back, grappling with the clown who was forced back towards the ropes by its onslaught.
The kangaroo is just one of 300 'athletes' taking part in the annual event, now in its fourth year, at the Shanghai Wild Animal Park.
The event held in a large arena also involves an elephant carrying the Olympic torch and various animals including zebras and mountain goats put through a series of events such as hurdles and races.
Also pictured at the event yesterday were bears standing with boxing gloves on their paws during another distasteful performance.
In July the Daily Mail reported the babrbaric sport of horse fighting where cheering crowds took bets on which stallion would win a bloody battle.

China not ready to give up 'barbaric' horse fighting July 2006
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-395200/China-ready-barbaric-horse-fighting.html

With wild, rolling eyes filled with a mixture of fear and hatred, nostrils flaring, blood already flecking their ragged flanks, two stallions rise on hind legs to fight each other in a dusty arena.
All around them as they bite, kick and snort, an excited, cheering crowd takes bets on who will win. While animal welfare groups yesterday condemned the horse-fighting tradition, celebrated by China?s Miao ethnic group in Rongshui county, Guangxi province, locals pointed out that it had been going on for 500 years.
The fighting, part of the summer Xinhe festival which asks for blessings on newly planted crops, such as corn, sweet potato and soya bean, is even included on some tourist itineraries in South West China.
"It is nothing but barbaric," said Vivian Farrell, president of the International Fund For Horses, which has led campaigns to ban horse fighting. "It?s cruel and inhumane and I don?t know why they do it."
While tourist guides tell tales of teams of horses being led into the makeshift arena to the sound of gunfire and a reed pipe band, they fail to mention that the stallions are whipped into a frenzy.
Mrs Farrell said: "First of all they get a mare in season to arouse the stallions, then they take the mare away and the fighting begins. They will rear at each other and kick and bite in the bid to show whose bloodline is superior.
"Sometimes the fights last 10 minutes ? sometimes they go on for half an hour. It?s not normally a fight to the death but occasionally animals have to be put down."
The Miao people, the fifth largest of 56 ethnic groups recognised by the People?s Republic of China, regard the fighting as ?thrilling, exciting and fascinating.?
One guide explains how two teams of horses, specially selected to be ?plump, sturdy and energetic,? are led to the arena and then pitted against each other one by one. They bite each other, turn their hooves and kick the other side heavily. The nervous and fierce fight makes audiences hold their breath or cheer and applaud loudly from time to time," says the guide.
If one horse falls down or runs away, the other one is declared the winner and another two take their place. The winning horses then fight each other. The last two battle it out to be champion.
While the losers are led away to lick their wounds, the sweat-soaked champion is draped in red while his owner ?feels very proud for having such a brave and strong steed.'

Animal Abuse Stories

http://www.rescuetheanimals.org/

Chained, Starved, and Abandoned... Buffalo Gap Dogs Seized!

Buffalo Gap fire chief, Dana Sowell, made the difference in life and death for five abandoned dogs at a vacant mobile home in Buffalo Gap. He stopped to put out water for the dogs every day while the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department looked for the owner and filed court papers for a seizure. On August 14, 2007, our Lynn Shults assisted Lt. David Doherty, Gary Kalmus, and Tony Pollock of the Sheriff’s Department in picking up the dogs. Three large dogs were chained out in the heat at a vacant mobile home, and two small dogs were running loose in the yard. All the dogs were friendly, but the three on chains were almost starved to death. When we arrived, the large white Shepherd was chained in the yard where the owner had left a bowl of mud for the dog and that was all. The two other large dogs had entangled their chains, leaving each dog about one foot of free chain. Their water had been left in an old tire.

A small terrier mix dashed about assisting the officers in loading the larger dogs. Despite quite a bit of barking, the chained dogs were very lovable and wanted to kiss everyone. The remaining dog, a small Boxer, was very elusive until officers went to the store and purchased wieners. Our Lynn Shults then coaxed the dog into the waiting stock trailer only to have it sprint away to hide under another mobile home. Officers crawled under the home chasing the dog into a fenced area where Lynn made the catch. The dogs were taken to Dr. Dearing who examined them, finding severe worm infestations in all of them. We are holding the dogs while the legal stuff is done before placing them for adoption. (UPDATE ALL DOGS HAVE BEEN ADOPTED EXCEPT FOR GUS AND RJ PICTURED. THEY ARE HEALTHY AND WAITING TO GO TO NEW HOMES.)

5 Horses and a Donkey Seized in Callahan County

After a call from the next door neighbors, we contacted the Callahan County Sheriff’s Department about the starving animals that were living in an old pig lot with no water and no food. The horses were surviving only because the neighbors had placed a bucket over the fence and were watering them and providing grass for them to eat. The owner went weeks at a time without checking on the horses. Deputy Tom Rumfield and Sheriff Eddie Curtis responded to our call by going to court and seizing the animals. The horses included a 14-year-old, bay mare, an albino gelding, a grey mare, a Palamino gelding, and another small gelding that still had a sale barn tag on his tail. The small gelding had been purchased just about two months ago and left to starve! On August 11 the animals were sold at auction. Dr. Rob Harle, who examined the animals for the sheriff’s department, bought Murphy the donkey. Lynn Shults, who investigated the case for Rescue the Animals, SPCA, bought the bay mare. Just three days after the auction, we learned from an area horse dealer that the owner had approached him about buying yet another horse. The dealer, who had followed case, said “______ NO!” Most abusers of children and animals are repeat offenders!

Poppy!!

This is Poppy a full blood black lab! Poppy lived a terrible life as a junk yard gaurd dog.

Poppy had lived in a junk yard across the street from a school. This was what his home looked like!

Gaylen and Don help to save Poppy!

Some of the staff at the school across the street would go over and feed him every day. He was just left there all by him self. He had no food and no water. He was covered in fleas and ticks so bad his hair was falling out.

The city picked up Poppy and called us. After 2 months of heartworm treatment and treatment for kennel cough Poppy is now ready for a home. Poppy was the spokes dog for our garage sale this year. He has made quite a name for him self. Poppy is 135 pound lab.
He is now set and the king of the castle in his new home.

TASHA

The next case is Tasha. Tasha is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet.

Here are just a few pictures of how Tasha looked when she came to us.
This is her hips!
Here is a side view of her ribs and spine!

 Craig Griffin Sheriffs Dep.

Lucky for Tasha Craig Griffin stepped in and took some action. He took her and turned her over to Rescue The Animals. When she got to us you could see that she had been nearly starved to death and she was missing her eyes.

Tasha is now up to her ideal weight. She has also had the treatment she needed for her eyes. Lucky for Tasha the Young family saw her and fell in love with her. Tasha now lives with Mr. and Mrs. Young and her new brother Brock the boxer.
Animal abuse is happening everywhere.
